Headlight Restoration in Louisville, KY
Wet-sand, polish, and UV seal — clear lenses and a safer drive after dark.
Modern headlights are polycarbonate with a factory UV coating on the outside. Kentucky sun breaks that coating down, and once it fails the plastic hazes yellow. The bulb is still working fine — the light just can't get out. Most yellowed headlights are throwing away a real share of their output down the road exactly where you need to see.
Restoration is a sanding job done properly. We wet-sand through progressive grits to remove the failed coating and the oxidized layer beneath it, polish the lens back to optical clarity, then apply a fresh UV sealant so it doesn't haze again in six months. Skipping that last step is why cheap kits fail.
It matters for more than looks. Clear lenses put light where it belongs on unlit stretches of Bardstown Road and the Outer Loop, and cloudy, discolored lenses can be flagged as a safety concern on a Kentucky vehicle inspection.
